Join the protest on Thursday! We are protesting Pilgrim’s Pride trying to buy 300 acres in the middle of the 50,000-acre McLemore Cove for a chicken slaughtering megasite. We are not against development and jobs, but the chicken plant should not go in McLemore Cove. The cove is home, and it’s on the National Register of Historic Places. A chicken plant there will ruin our land, fill the air with a horrible smell, tear up the country roads with all the trucks going through the area and pollute our drinking water and property. Walker County has an industrial park where it can go, but the chicken plant should not move to McLemore Cove. Join us at a public protest on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Chattanooga on the corner of Main and Broad Streets.
